We started the day on a bit of a go slow. It as actually quite nice to be a bit slower and have time for breakfast and a hot shower.
Our destination today was in northern Denmark, a town called Logstor. We have a friend who we met on the Mongol Rally two years ago who we promised that if we ever made it to Denmark we would visit. That time had arrived and when we finally made it on the road we headed north through the beautiful farming landscapes of Denmark.
It didn’t take that long to drive the 180 miles, soaking up the sunshine as we went. We found Michael’s business quite easily so we parked up outside and found him busy working away. Our intention was to only stop for a coffee and say hello but Michael and his family had offered to let us put our tents up in the garden. An offer we couldn’t refuse. So we followed Michael back to his home around the corner.
Janni, Michael’s wife and their daughter (& cat) instantly made us feel welcome. As soon as we arrived we were being offered tea and being asked if we were okay with pasta for dinner. It felt like luxury to be sat at a table eating dinner and drinking prosecco. We almost forgot we were travelling and sleeping in tents.
After dinner, we headed to the beach for ice cream. The beach was beautiful, all full of broken shells and sand in between the large rock bolders. The water was pristine and warm, but the wind was starting to pick up. We spent the next hour paddling in the sea, watching the oyster catchers and finding baby fish. It was the best way to finish our evening in Logstor.
Time to head back and settle into our tents for the evening.
