Is my job solely  ‘Kettle Technician’? Okay, I am known for being able to make an amazing English cuppa but that’s only through years of making them 😊 I can do other things….

An IT Director by day (boring), I spend much of my free time with John & Digit planning or preparing for our next trips. Although most of this is taken up by John thinking up a new idea, and me finding a way to make it happen. Not sure how this is sharing responsibilities but it works for us.

I love travelling & photography and being able to do it the way we do is amazing. It is only in recent years that I discovered I could balance commitments at home, work & travelling. My first real travelling experience was in 2010 when I took my son backpacking through China & Vietnam for the Summer Holidays. It was this trip that really opened my eyes to how sheltered and routine life can be. Realising that it isn’t always possible to have a plan & things will change, learning to adapt and go with the flow is often the best way forwards. I am lucky that my current & previous employers support sabbaticals and this has enabled me to take time off to explore amazing new places with John. I’m doubly fortunate I also get to experience new Countries regularly through work.

Where John loves gadgets & technology, its a kind of take it or leave it relationship with the tech for me. Once it gets too technical my last remaining brain cell disappears into a yawn. I tend to lend myself to the practical stuff which in most cases gets us to where we want to be, but I have been known to get us into trouble or lost on occasion! Least we can make a cuppa….

Sometimes you have to be brave, take risks, but nothing can substitute experience
